NORA SOBERING
Nora Sobering began her journey into the world of dance at the very tender age of two, taking a class from Ginny East at the Florida Dance Exchange in Sarasota, FL. Every year, her love for the art of dance grew and she continued to dance all the years up to her senior year of high school. Nora graduated from the highest level of the rigorous pre-professional program that FLEX offered under the direction of Ginny East and Mark Hendry. She continued her training while in college taking ballet, modern and performance classes from Florida International University in Miami, Fl and from Leeward Community College on Oahu, Hawaii. While living in Hawaii attending college, she also taught at the W Performing Arts Center in Wahiawa, HI. Nora moved to Kansas in 2005 and began to work towards her Bachelors of Science degree in Theatre with a concentration in Dance. Included in Nora’s time studying was the opportunity to perform in many formal concerts as well as have her student choreography selected for 2 consecutive WinterDance performances in 2007 and 2008. After graduating from Kansas State University in December 2008, she has ventured out into the dance and performing arts communities. Nora choreographed the musical “Fame” for Junction City High School in Junction City, KS, ran the performing arts section of a children’s summer program in 2009 on Fort Riley, KS, has a choreography project for Braden River High School in Bradenton, Fl for the musical Aida, and has also continued her teaching as a substitute teacher for Stage Door Studios.
